At Dreamlife, Coromandel wedding photography is a careful craft, never a series of poses. We have photographed weddings across the upper North Island since 2003, and the Coromandel is one of our favourite places to work. Many of our couples come from Auckland for a destination wedding by the sea, and we travel with them to capture the day with feeling, restraint and a true photographer’s eye for light. From the quiet pause before the first kiss to the last dance under the stars, our images feel like the day itself rather than a staged retelling of it.

A Coromandel wedding photographer who knows the coast

Choosing a wedding photographer for a Coromandel wedding is, at heart, a question of trust, and it helps to work with someone who already knows the peninsula. Our approach is unhurried and observational. We move quietly through the day, anticipate the moments that matter and photograph them honestly, without forcing the day into a script. We also know how the coastal weather turns, so a passing shower or a blaze of late sun becomes an opportunity rather than a problem. Every couple receives a high resolution gallery, museum quality enlargement prints and the option of luxury leather bound albums that hold up across decades.

Coromandel wedding venues we love to photograph

The Coromandel is built for photographs. Our portfolio stretches from the white sand and sea cliffs of Cathedral Cove and Hahei to the calm of Cooks Beach, the harbour town of Whitianga and the pohutukawa-lined bays that flower a deep red over the New Zealand summer. Knowing these places intimately changes the images. We know which beach holds the best light late in the day, where to shelter a ceremony from the wind, and how the tide shapes what is possible at Hot Water Beach. If you are still choosing where to marry, this is the part of the day we are happiest to help with.

Coromandel wedding venues and locations we photograph at most often include:

  • Cathedral Cove, Hahei and Cooks Beach
  • Whitianga and Mercury Bay waterside venues
  • Hot Water Beach and the pohutukawa coast
  • Clifftop and headland ceremony sites
  • Coastal lodges, vineyards and private bach properties

Wedding videography across the Coromandel

A wedding film suits a Coromandel wedding perfectly, where the sound of the sea and the light off the water are so much a part of the day. Many of our couples book a videographer alongside the photography, and the two teams work as one, sharing a plan so neither gets in the other’s way. We film with the same restraint we bring to the stills and shape it into a film you will return to for years. Booking photography and videography together is the most efficient way to cover a destination wedding, and usually the most affordable.

How much does a Coromandel wedding photographer cost?

Photography for a Coromandel wedding varies based on the length of the day, travel from Auckland, whether you add a second shooter, and if you choose to bundle videography. To help you map out your budget, you can view our full range of packages on our pricing page. Since every coastal wedding is unique, we’re always happy to customise these options to perfectly match your timeline and chosen location.
